Why Groove is the perfect festival for the whole family

Family and festival aren’t necessarily two words that go together. That is, until Groove Festival came along, proudly labelled as the perfect festival for all the family with fun, music and plenty to do for both adults and children alike. Our jam-packed weekend of family-friendly activities, prime location and extended opening hours make Groove Festival the perfect family outing this August. Need convincing? Here’s just a few reasons why the whole family should be in attendance at Groove Festival on the 19-20 August. Children of all ages are welcome at Groove Festival, and reduced priced tickets are available for guests under 18 years of age.

Activities Galore

If there is one way to tire the kids out to ensure a good nights sleep, it’s being outdoors and active for the day. Groove Festival has you covered, with activities running from 11am both Saturday and Sunday.

Kick off your day with a Music & Movement session for parents and kids at the Silly Billy Stage at 11am, or join in the fun of Morning Gloryville over in the Thrive Wellness area on Saturday and you will be ready and raving your way into the day at Groove.

In the all new dedicated Family Zone, there is a plethora of free things to do for all ages.  Get the faces painted, arm the troops with balloon swords, and take a seat to watch a magic show or puppet performance. If attention spans wander, there are giant games, inflatable fun and obstacle courses to keep them busy.

The older kids can channel their inner Indiana Jones with our adventure area, with zorbing, the infamous climbing walls, an obstacle course and kayaking all available. A small fee applies for these activities, which can be booked on the day. There’s no fear of catching the boredom blues at Groove Festival.

For the active families, Thrive offers fitness fun and workshops for both kids and adults! Whether you’re breaking a sweat with Platinum Pilates, learning to laugh out loud with Louise Burchall’s Laughter yoga for kids,or picking up tips for cooking with kids from Oliver McCabe and Aileen Cox Blundell, the dedicated wellness area has plenty for all ages.

Location, Location, Location!

With Groove Festival’s prime location in Killruddery House & Gardens, the festival is easily accessible from all over, being just 20 minutes from Dundrum Town Centre. The space offers an oasis of calm, open space for well being, fun and creativity, and is the perfect setting for a summer festival escape for all the family. Killruddery Gardens consist of 850 acres of farm-yard and gardens, offering the ideal environment to escape the pressures of real-life and let nature take its toll. There’ll be no fear of lugging buggies awkwardly through muddy fields or carrying your exhausted little ones for miles on end.

It’s not just Killruddery’s scenic location that draws visitors from afar. The site, building and gardens are all rich with Irish history and heritage. Home to over 16 generations of the Braganza family, the house has offered its location to films and television shows alike including My Left Foot and Tudors and Angela’s Ashes. Its gardens are one of the few remaining 17th century gardens in all of Ireland and provide the picture perfect backdrop for a festival celebrating fitness and wellbeing. There might even be some fairies about! Groove Festival’s engagement with the outdoors and adventure will encourage kids to drop their video game controllers, turn off the TV, get out and get active!

One of the biggest selling points at this year’s Groove Festival is our wide range of healthy foods from local producers, entrepreneurs and chefs. We’ve got everything from Sharon Shannon’s Vegan Food Truck to Ireland’s favourite culinary siblings, The Happy Pear, whose food truck will be selling an array of plant based meals over the weekend. Our hand-picked selection of restaurant pop-ups, sensational street food, coffee and gourmet producers will provide a menu of tantalising and wholesome dishes, ensuring your festival day out won’t disrupt you or your family’s diet. But of course it wouldn’t be a festival without ice-cream, so Teddys ice-cream truck, and Keelings will be on hand to offer those all important sweet treats.

Join us this August in Killruddery house for a guaranteed two days of fun for all the family. Just bring an open mind and we’ll do all the rest. With free tickets for all children under twelve up until August 1st, there’s no excuse not to attend. Promising a packed two days of fun, music and activity, we look forward to seeing you at Groove Festival 2017.
