CARRON are an Indie-Folk duo from Dublin, led by the sisters Meabh and Mella Carron. These siblings are unique in their style of singing and songwriting, attempting to capture far more than just melody or rhyme. Through the frequent use of unison vocals, they create a sense of one shared voice between them reinforced by a strong familial bond, while singing in harmony highlights their differences. The keen listener will note that these vocal convergences and divergences are referenced lyrically.
In April 2016 they released their debut EP entitled ‘Roots’ which quickly shot to number 4 in the Irish iTunes album charts, going on to win Pure M Magazine’s ‘Best EP of 2016’ award. ‘Roots’ tells the story of four distinct phases of Meabh and Mella’s life together, from childhood (‘Roots’), through adolescence (‘She’s Fire’), dealing with unexpected illness (‘Prison Robes’), and envisioning a future free from the mistakes of a generation past (‘Marble Arch’).
CARRON’s new single ‘Battle Lines’ is set to make waves on the air this summer. They will be involved in the festival scene this summer while they release more new music as 2017 progresses.
